Recent well publicised cases of poor construction standards including Fire Safety Issues as highlighted in Priory Hall and Longboat Quay and the presence of contaminated filling containing Pyrites within the greater Dublin area have demonstrated the need for significant improvements in the building control system in Ireland. In response to this, legislation, which came into force on the 1st of March 2014, has brought in a requirement for clients to appoint an Assigned Certifier to oversee the design, construction and final certification on a wide range of building works.
McGovern Surveyors as Chartered Building Surveyors are one of the professionals designated to carry out this new role. We have already completed a number of projects for which we acted as the assigned certifier and are very well placed to advise clients on their responsibilities and take on this role on a wide range of projects.
